HOM : Humans of Matebeleland

Hi Friends! You've found my favorite corner of this whole website. I'm so excited to feature different individuals on this blog, finding out fun facts and tough stories, but also, highlighting their COURAGE!

Even the most shy, weak, and scared among us are courageous at times. I actually tend to think that we are all more courageous than we think we are! All it takes is asking the right question and you can hear the powerful ways in which people have chosen to be strong and courageous.

My interest in building this series was twofold:

1) To meet new people.

I'm relatively new to Zimbabwe and I'm especially new to Matebeleland, which includes the western/southwestern provinces here. So I'm stretching myself and reaching out to new people each week to learn more about my new home.

2) To live out the command in Joshua 1:9.

That verse from the Bible says "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

So guys, it's actually a command to not be afraid. Th Want to add a caption to this image? Click the Settings icon. at means, if you break it, that's dishonoring God. Have you ever thought about it that way? I don't have the knowledge to preach a sermon on that, but don't you think it's mind blowing to be commanded to not be afraid? What a big ask!

Well, it definitely isn't easy to always be courageous and never be afraid. But, there is good news! We have God to help us, and we have each other. We are all able to encourage one another, spurring on bravery and strength. So, I hope these people that I meet and feature on Humans of Matebeleland can do that for you. They're regular people like you and me that have taken a moment to answer some questions I prepare, and they shed light on what courage looks like for them. I hope it is contagious and gets you thinking about how you can live out Joshua 1:9.

Now, let the posts begin!
